At about 6.30 when you want to go home, don’t knock a cup of water over your keyboard and Fratellis tickets, the keyboard will stop working and the rest is obvious.
Don’t at anytime eat tomatoes with funny brown stuff inside them. I went to eat the second half of a tomato that i started yesterday and i think i found the reason why i’ve had a really bad stomach since yesterday afternoon.
Don’t do either of these two things and you’ll find life easier.

installing Parallels with Windows XP
Well i’ve done this before with Boot Camp and Q, but neither of them touches Parallels for simplicity. There is a simple installation wizard for XP and Vista which involves clicking go and sticking in your Windows install disk. You don’t have to select any of the blue screen options in Windows (like formatting a drive etc), it just gets on with it - have a look at my progress so far (very nice on a dual screen machine).
Parallels vs. Q
I’ve been using a program called Sqirlz Water Reflections which produces flash movies from tiffs to make water ripple. Its very processor heavy and i’m using big images, 1536 x 1360 px to make 30 frame animations. The program uses some clever maths to make the ripples so its a fairly good test and i need to do it anyway. The only problem with the program is that its PC only - hence my need to install Parallels and/or Q.
the results - shorter times are better
Q: 21minutes 21 secondes
Parallels: 1minute 7 seconds
This may be a non standard test, but its one that directly reflects what I do and is certainly a very maths / image processing heavy task. Parallels is blindingly fast compared to Q, but in Q’s favour the program is free, and in its defense it’s still in alpha phase. For now Parallels is cheap ($79.99 nearly £40 for those strong pound people) and great.
