I saw the above at the IMAX, Waterloo, London on Wednesday this week. Trevor Jackson with a piece called RGBPM was pretty brilliant. Lemonjelly, under the un-guise of their real names, Deakin and Franglen, were slightly underwelming. This was disappointing as i’m a real fan of Lemonjelly, but the graphics and the music just weren’t that interesting and never seemed to go anywhere.
Trevor Jacksons thing was really good in parts though and at various moments you were slung into a crazy retro synth/visual 2001 Space Odyssey experience. I’ve attached a couple of clips on youtube which i took on my phone before someone told me to stop. (which was kind of annoying seeing as some berk who was filming the event for official purposes constantly either had a huge camera in my face or was standing infront of me).
By the way - when you watch the videos try and imagine that you aren’t looking at a video filmed by Nokia, and that you’re actually sitting in Britain’s biggest cinema with an amazing sound system. Also I know from the website that the IMAX already has a “11,600-watt digital surround-sound system”, and they were using it here, but the also had big stacks of speakers on the front just to boost that up a bit - which made the whole thing pack a punch. Anyway the videos don’t do it justice but try and see Trevor if you get a chance.
