Reduce your Carbon Footprint
I’m keen on getting my carbon footprint as low as possible and will be investigating as many ways to do this as possible, meanwhile i’ll keep track of it all and make a list of the successful and achievable ways in which you can reduce your environmental impact.
Top Ten:
- Wear a wooly jumper - sounds daft, but you can easily turn down your heating a few degrees just by wearing warm clothes inside. Don’t go crazy, but if you’re wearing a t-shirt in the middle of the winter think about the amount of energy you’re wasting just to pretend it’s summer. Every degree you turn it down could save £30 a year too
- By local produce, or grow your own. It tastes better and its astonishing the impact that your foot consumption makes on your carbon footprint. Do the test here: http://ecofoot.org/ and look at your footprint. Food accounted for a great amount of my impact.
- Cycle to work. My return journey is about 15 miles and it was pretty tough for the first few days, then it got easier and after a few weeks I started to feel really fit. Now I really enjoy cycling in to work, its quicker than the train and I also save over £27 per week. Make sure you get good waterproofs, otherwise you’ll just stop doing it in winter, decent clothes make cycling in the rain easy.
